Monthly statement · for owners of short-term rentals in Costa Rica

One rental. Two tax countries.

If you rent a home in Costa Rica on Airbnb, Vrbo or Booking, Hacienda, Costa Rica’s tax authority, expects an IVA return (Costa Rica’s VAT) every month. We prepare it from your bookings, your accountant reviews and files it, and you get a clean summary for your tax preparer back home.

Every week we check what is public: whether Hacienda lists you as up to date, and when your municipal taxes are due. If something changes, you hear from us first.

Questions owners ask

Do I still need an accountant?
We recommend one. We prepare everything; an accountant reviews and files: yours, or one we introduce you to. You can also file yourself.
Is this tax advice?
No. We organize and calculate. Decisions stay with your accountant.
Which income-tax regime applies to me?
Your accountant decides. We prepare the numbers either way.
Do you need my Hacienda password?
No. You or your accountant file from your own account.
Which exchange rate do you use?
The Banco Central de Costa Rica reference rate by default. You or your accountant can change it, with a reason, and every change is recorded.
What data do you keep?
Only the dates and amounts the calculation needs. Not your guests' names or phone numbers.
